Keychain – Head Gasket for Fiat 1.4 Starjet / T-Jet / MultiAir

The Fiat 1.4 in its Starjet, T-Jet and MultiAir flavours is one of FCA’s most important modern four-cylinder engines – roughly 1.4 litres, DOHC, 16 valves and available as a naturally aspirated or turbocharged unit. You find it in cars like the Grande Punto 1.4 16v Starjet, Punto Evo 1.4 MultiAir, Abarth Grande Punto, Fiat Bravo 1.4 T-Jet, countless Abarth 500/595/695 versions, the Fiat 124 Spider 1.4 MultiAir Turbo and Alfa Romeo MiTo and Giulietta 1.4 TB.

Under the skin it’s a transverse inline-four with 1,368 cm³, aluminium head and modern port injection. In Starjet guise it makes around 95 hp, T-Jet versions deliver from roughly 120 hp in a Grande Punto up to well over 150 hp in Abarth models, and MultiAir Turbos span from about 105 to 170 hp depending on application. Variable valve control, compact turbochargers, intercoolers and torque-focused mapping give these engines that characteristic mid-range punch which makes a small 1.4 feel much bigger in everyday driving.

Owners usually talk about a familiar set of topics rather than horror stories: staying on top of timing belt and water pump service, keeping oil quality high (especially for MultiAir units), checking coils and plugs once power levels go up and occasionally smoke-testing the boost and vacuum system. Treated with mechanical sympathy – warm-up, sensible cooldown, clean oil – the 1.4 Starjet/T-Jet/MultiAir family is perfectly happy doing daily duty and weekend fun runs alike.

In the enthusiast world these engines are right at home among hot hatches and compact sport cars: Grande Punto Abarth and Punto Evo Abarth lapping the Nürburgring, 500 Abarth/595 builds as small track toys, MiTo and Giulietta 1.4 TB MultiAir as Italian alternatives to the usual GTI suspects, plus the Fiat 124 Spider combining the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo with rear-wheel-drive roadster vibes. Remaps, bigger intercoolers, downpipes, turbo upgrades and 200+ hp setups are standard conversation pieces in Abarth and Alfa forums.

*The "rubberized" covers (TPU) are clipped on, not glued. They still hold perfectly and can be removed if you prefer the "bare" look. We can't guarantee they can be reattached afterward. So either leave them on or take them off, but no back and forth :)
