Keychain – Head Gasket for PSA Prince / 1.6 EP6
The PSA Prince / 1.6 EP6 is best understood as a widely used 1.6-litre petrol engine family from Peugeot, Citroën and DS models of the 2000s, 2010s and early 2020s. The engine was co-developed with BMW, but this description focuses only on the PSA side: EP6, VTi, THP, e-THP and the later 1.6 PureTech versions. These engines appeared in models such as the Peugeot 207, 208 GTi, 308, 3008, 5008, RCZ and RCZ R, as well as the Citroën C3, C4, C4 Picasso, C5 and DS models including the DS3, DS4, DS5 and DS7. Depending on version, the EP6 can mean a naturally aspirated 1.6 VTi or one of the much better-known turbocharged direct-injection THP and PureTech variants.
Technically, the EP6 is a 1,598 cc inline-four with 16 valves and modern valve-control systems. The VTi versions cover the more everyday naturally aspirated side of the family, while the THP engines brought turbocharging and direct injection into a wide range of PSA cars. In performance-focused models such as the 207 RC, DS3 Racing, RCZ THP 200, 208 GTi, 308 GTi and RCZ R, the EP6 becomes more than just a compact petrol engine. It offers strong low-end torque, quick response and, in the higher-output versions, serious performance for the displacement. Codes like EP6DT, EP6DTS, EP6CDT, EP6CDTX, EP6FDTR and EP6FADTX therefore belong naturally to this product, along with names such as THP 150, THP 175, THP 200, THP 270, PureTech 180 and PureTech 225.
Anyone familiar with the PSA Prince also knows the technical subjects that come with it. Timing chains, chain tensioners, high-pressure fuel pumps, direct injection, intake-side deposits, thermostat housings, water pumps, oil separator systems, ignition coils and turbochargers are common topics in forums, workshop conversations and buying guides. There is no need to turn that into drama, but it is part of an honest description of the engine family. A well-maintained THP or PureTech can feel responsive, strong and genuinely enjoyable to drive. A neglected one can show the weaker points of the platform more clearly. That combination of interesting engineering, wide use and recognisable technical character is what makes the EP6 relevant to PSA drivers and enthusiasts.
For the scene, the engine is mainly important through the cars it powered. A Peugeot RCZ R with 270 hp, a 208 GTi, a 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport or a DS3 Racing carries a very different image from a C4 Picasso THP or a 3008 PureTech, but the engine connection remains clear. That is where this keychain makes sense. It is not a generic Peugeot or Citroën reference, but a detail for people who can place EP6, THP, VTi and 1.6 PureTech in the right context. It speaks to drivers, owners and mechanically interested people who know why this engine family mattered across the PSA range, including both its strengths and its well-known technical themes.
Whether it lives on your own keys or as a gift for someone who immediately understands the link between EP6, THP and RCZ R, this keychain stays deliberately technical. At first glance it is an unusual shape; on second look it points to a very specific PSA engine family. To outsiders it appears as a clean mechanical object. To enthusiasts, it quickly becomes clear that this is not just any 1.6-litre engine, but the Prince engine used across Peugeot, Citroën and DS.
Proudly crafted in Germany, meticulously detailed and finely finished for a refined in-hand feel paired with a premium brushed surface.
