Keychain – Head Gasket for Mazda MZ-CD 3.2
The Mazda MZ-CD 3.2 is the 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel that gave the BT-50 its character in the 2010s. In double-cab form with canopy, tools or camping gear on board, the long-stroke inline-five delivers that distinctive growl and plenty of torque. This keychain turns the head gasket outline of the 3.2-litre MZ-CD engine into a brushed stainless-steel miniature – a small but very specific nod to Mazda diesel fans.
Under the cover you’ll find a 3,198 cc DOHC inline-five with 20 valves, common-rail injection, variable-geometry turbocharger and intercooler. Closely related to Ford’s Duratorq 3.2 (P5AT) but badged MZ-CD in Mazda applications, it produces around 200 hp and strong low-end torque in BT-50 3.2 models, depending on market and calibration. It’s the engine people have in mind when they talk about “BT-50 3.2 diesel” builds that tow, tour and work hard every day.
Owner discussions typically focus on smart maintenance rather than drama: good oil and sensible change intervals, fresh fuel filters, a healthy cooling system and keeping an eye on EGR and DPF components in trucks that see lots of short trips or heavy towing. Enthusiasts who run remaps, bigger tyres or serious overlanding loads often add EGT and boost gauges, uprated intercoolers and transmission coolers to keep the whole package happy on long climbs and in hot climates.
Within the community the BT-50 3.2 has become the slightly rarer alternative to the usual suspects – which makes it attractive to people who like to stand out a bit. You’ll see MZ-CD 3.2 trucks with lift kits, all-terrain tyres, snorkels, underbody protection, drawer systems and roof tents heading for remote tracks just as often as you’ll see them loaded with tools and trailers during the week. In all of those roles the five-cylinder soundtrack is part of the appeal.
This head-gasket keychain fits that world perfectly. On the keys to your own BT-50 3.2 it’s a quiet stainless signature that only other diesel nerds will recognise at first glance; handed to a friend as a present for their Mazda build, it’s a neat way of saying “I know exactly what’s under your bonnet” without needing any badge or logo at all.
Proudly crafted in Germany, meticulously detailed and finely finished for a refined in-hand feel paired with a premium brushed surface.
