BMW M62 Keychain
The BMW M62 succeeded the M60 in 1996 and continued BMW’s modern V8 tradition with key improvements. While the M60 was already a milestone, the M62 introduced crucial refinements: the switch from Nikasil-coated cylinder liners, which had caused issues in some markets, to more durable Alusil technology greatly enhanced longevity. In 1998, the M62TU version added BMW’s VANOS system on the intake side, bringing improved flexibility and efficiency.
The M62 came in several displacements, from the 3.5-liter M62B35 to the popular 4.4-liter M62B44 and even the rare 4.6-liter in Alpina models and the E53 X5 4.6is. It powered iconic cars such as the E39 540i, the E38 740i, the E31 840Ci, and the E53 X5. Especially the E39 540i Touring and the E38 740i became beloved youngtimers, admired for their smooth refinement and powerful delivery.
