Mercedes M112 Keychain

The Mercedes M112 is the V6 that defined the late ’90s and early 2000s lineup. This 90° V6 with a balance shaft replaced many inline-six applications and powered countless models: C 240/C 320, E 240/E 320, CLK 320, SLK 320, ML 320/350, S 320 and even G 320. Our keychain scales the head-gasket outline into a precise miniature—at first glance understated, at second glance a clear nod for three-point-star insiders.

Under the skin: an aluminum crankcase, chain drive, three valves per cylinder with twin-spark ignition, variable intake manifold and ME-SFI engine management. Displacements covered 2.4/2.6/2.8/3.2 up to 3.7 liters (M112 E24/E26/E28/E32/E37), with outputs roughly from 125 to 165 kW in NA trims—and far higher in the supercharged M112K used by C 32 AMG and SLK 32 AMG with an intercooler-equipped twin-screw blower.

Ownership lore includes early harmonic balancer issues, valve cover and oil cooler seals, brittle vacuum/PCV hoses, thermostats/water pumps, MAF sensors, and aging intake flap actuators. Keep the intake tight, the ignition healthy, and oil changes regular, and an M112 will run for hundreds of thousands of kilometers—exactly why daily drivers and Youngtimer fans love it.
