The Mercedes M104 is a straight-six that remains one of the brand’s most beloved engines. Introduced in the early 1990s as the successor to the M103, it powered models like the 300E-24 (W124), E 280 / E 320 (W124/W210), C 280 (W202), and even the SL (R129). With a 24-valve cylinder head, electronic fuel injection, and outputs ranging from 193 to 231 hp, it is regarded as the last classic inline-six before Mercedes moved on to the M112/M113 V-engines.
