The EA180 2.5 TDI was a five-cylinder diesel used from the mid-1990s into the 2000s in Audi A4, A6, A8, VW Transporter T4/T5 and LT vans. With 2,461 cc, turbocharging and 115–180 hp, it combined torque-rich performance with the unmistakable sound of an inline-five. Our keychain reproduces the gasket of this engine as a precise miniature.
Engineering features: cast-iron block, SOHC/DOHC variants, early VP44 distributor pumps, later pumpe-düse units, and variable-geometry turbos. Codes like AEL, AKN, BAU and BDG became familiar names among diesel fans.
Known issues include camshaft wear, injection pumps, timing-belt intervals and turbocharger maintenance. Despite that, many EA180s easily exceeded 400,000 km, proving their legendary toughness.
