US Import duties

The Situation

Sorry, but after loosing a lot of money we had to increase shipping costs again...

After receiving our first tariff invoices we learnt that obvioulsy stainless steel keychains from Germany are a "threat to the national security of the United States" and therefore are subject to 50% extra tariff for steel imports. The Tariff itself is now calculated and charged at checkout.

Also we want to summarize for you why we are asking for 99$ for shipping: Sending a Single Keychain to the U.S. costs us:

  • 55-90$ for a UPS DDP Shipment (delivered duty paid - including all the customs handling fees)  depending on where you live exactly
  • + 15$ fees for collecting the tariff. 

 

Sorry, but this is the reality of the new politics.

We are working on a solution with partners in the U.S. and will keep you updated here.

 

25/09/09: LATEST NEWS!

All prices now include the 15% tariff (we are paying them, we did not raise prices).

The Shipping will be done with UPS DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), so there will be no extra charges at your door, as all the customs fees are already included. Of course, unfortunately, shipping got way more expensive with all that. Where we paid between 6 and 10 USD for a shipment before, it´s now roughly 55 USD.

 

  • Starting August 29, 2025, the U.S. de-minimis rule has been removed. (Which Mr. Trump just announced end of july 2025)
  • This means all imports from Germany, including our keychains, will be subject to 15% U.S. import duty.
  • On top of that there will be significant fees collected by the shipping companies for handling the now way more complicated import process.
  • Unfortunately, there is currently no way for us to prepay these duties and keep shipping affordable.

 

25/09/06: NEWS!

The fees UPS collects for the customs process are absolutely disproproportionate to the usual order value of our keychains. Consequently we stop offering shipping to the US for orders below $250 until we have new options.

 

25/08/22: NEWS!

DHL (and almost all other european shipping companies) will not ship consumer goods to the US via the global post network beginning 25/08/23 because of the unclear situation about who collects the new duties. That means our quite affordable shipping method will not be available anymore.

Only Option is UPS, which is way more expensive.

We don´t know how long this situation will last. As long as it does, we try to take over as much as possible of the shipping cost. The bigger your order, the lower the shipping extra will be...
