Keychain – Head Gasket for Toyota 2L

The Toyota 2L is the 2.4-litre inline-four diesel from the L-series family, found in 1980s and 1990s workhorses like Hilux pickups, Hilux Surf / 4Runner, Hiace vans and Toyoace / Dyna light trucks. A naturally aspirated 2.4D with generous displacement per cylinder, a purely mechanical injection pump and that unmistakable Toyota diesel soundtrack – this keychain turns the 2L head gasket into a finely detailed stainless-steel miniature for your pocket.

On paper the 2L offers 2,446 cc, SOHC valvetrain with eight valves, indirect injection and a rubber timing belt that helped make the L-series quieter and easier to service. Depending on model and market it delivers roughly 70–80 hp with strong low-end torque, ideal for Hilux LN56, early Hilux Surf / 4Runner LN60/65, third-generation Hiace and compact Dyna/Toyoace trucks. The same engine family spawned revisions like 2L-II and turbocharged siblings such as 2L-T, 2L-TE and 2L-THE, all sharing the same basic layout that diesel fans recognise instantly.

Most 2L discussion among enthusiasts is about looking after fundamentals rather than chasing power: staying on top of timing belt and tensioner intervals, keeping the radiator and cooling passages clean, using good oil and filters and checking glow plugs and injectors on high-mileage engines. Turbo variants like the 2L-T and 2L-TE especially reward a healthy cooling system, since overheating is what typically stresses heads on these engines, not some mysterious design flaw.

Within the 4x4 and light-commercial community the 2L has become the archetypal simple Toyota diesel: Hilux 2.4D work utes, Hilux Surf and 4Runner trail rigs, Hiace campers, Toyoace delivery trucks and even oddball Blizzard or Crown applications in certain markets. Many of these rigs ended up as overland builds or off-road toys; others still haul tools, people and parts day in, day out – powered by the same square-bore 2.4-litre L-series block.

This head-gasket keychain is a small stainless tribute to that engine. It belongs on the keys to your Hilux, Hiace, 4Runner or Dyna just as naturally as on the keyring of a friend who hears “2L-T” and immediately pictures LN60 Surf dashboards, extra temperature gauges and long gravel roads. At first glance it’s just a clean piece of metal; on second look it’s a quiet nod to everyone who still appreciates old-school Toyota diesels.

Proudly crafted in Germany, meticulously detailed and finely finished for a refined in-hand feel paired with a premium brushed surface.

*The "rubberized" covers (TPU) are clipped on, not glued. They still hold perfectly and can be removed if you prefer the "bare" look. We can't guarantee they can be reattached afterward. So either leave them on or take them off, but no back and forth :)
